Project Name: Alfred Parker's Park
Alfred Parker’s Park not only has a special meaning for the people who live here on the island, but also for the many visitors who frequent Put-in-Bay annually. Alfred Parker was a Put-in-Bay Township Trustee for 31 years, a ferry boat captain, and the owner of the Parker Boat Line and Perry’s Cave.
The location is perfect for Lake Erie sunsets as well as just a beautiful view of Lake Erie itself.
The fence has become a main attraction for visitors and islanders alike with an area dedicated to “Locks of Love.”

Our improvements included removing invasive trees, planting two new magnolia trees, grass,
two engraved benches, two picnic tables, a new bike rack, more fencing to support the locks and privacy for the neighbors surrounding the park, a partially enclosed trash area, new signage, and parking blocks for vehicles.

We held a rededication ceremony on October 12, 2025. In attendance were members of Alfred Parker’s family; one special member, Annie Parker, who is Alfred Parker’s sister-in-law, cut the ribbon during the ceremony. There were approximately 50 people in attendance including his two daughters, grandkids, among other family members who traveled to Put-in-Bay to be part of the ceremony.
