Dr. Robert L. Nehls Memorial Nature Preserve, located in Catawba Island Township, is featured in the 2025 Outdoor Hiking Challenge. Purchased by Black Swamp Conservancy in 2019, this property includes walking trails, a picnic table pavilion, a Storybook Trail, an ADA kayak launch, a restored pollinator meadow, views of West Harbor, and much more.
Marblehead Lighthouse State Park offers scenic views of Lake Erie, shaded picnic areas, historical museums, and more. Owned and managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Marblehead Lighthouse State Park is one of 12 destinations featured in the Park District’s 2025 Outdoor Hiking Challenge.

It is with great pleasure that we announce our fifth round of the Park District of Ottawa County Parks and Trails Improvement Grant Program. The Board of Park Commissioners has authorized the distribution of up to $220,000 for 2026 program awards.
