The new Portage River Water Trail launch ramp at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds is now operational. Through the generosity of the Park District of Ottawa County and the cooperation of the Ottawa County Commissioners, the Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District and the Ottawa County Agricultural Society, the new ramp allows for a critical access spot between Oak Harbor and Port Clinton.

The simple ramp structure was installed by Elite Excavation of Oak Harbor. The shoreline was peeled back above the ordinary high-water mark to allow for a gradual entrance by foot to carry kayaks and canoes to the river. The river bank was stabilized next to this ramp with larger rock and a dedicated parking area was created.
