Project Name: Shelter House at the Portage River Water Trail Launch Ramp

Project Location: Ottawa County Fairgrounds

The new Portage River Water Trail launch ramp at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds is now operational and has been enhanced with a new shelter house on the banks of the Portage River. Through the generosity of the Park District of Ottawa County, and the cooperation of the Ottawa County Commissioners and Ottawa County Agricultural Society, the new shelter house allows for a rest spot for folks enjoying the river in this critical access spot between Oak Harbor and Port Clinton.

The shelter house was purchased through and built by Ohio Hardwood Furniture. Site prep was done by volunteer labor from the Senior Fairboard members.

The shelter house will be used for family gatherings, weddings and for weary rowers to relax.
