Project Name: Lake Point Park Picnic Table Replacement

Project Location: Village of Marblehead

Lake Point Park, owned by the Danbury Township Board of Trustees and physically located within the corporation limits of the Village of Marblehead, was formerly known as RoadsidePark #46. Decades ago, the State of Ohio turned this park over to Danbury Township. The. Township continues to maintain this waterfront gem that was recently awarded the designation of “Lake Erie Scenic Vista.”

In April of 2023, the Township gave naming rights for this park to the Marblehead Peninsula Lions Club. It is now known as “Lions Park at Lake Point.” This cooperative gesture allows both entities to enhance the park for the benefit of the public.

The Lions provided new signage and requested the Township purchase new picnic tables for the shelter house overlooking Lake Erie and the quarry pond. The previous wooden tables were falling into disrepair and were not ADA accessible. Through the gracious funding of the Park District of Ottawa County, the Township was able to purchase eight recycled material “step-in” picnic tables to replace the decaying ones in use. These tables comfortably seat eight guests and allow ingress and egress via a split bench. One can enter and exit easily on the outside or the inside of the seat and there is sufficient room on both ends of the tables for a wheelchair.
