In 2017, the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners applied for and were awarded grant funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation to develop an Ottawa County Active Transportation Plan. 

The Active Transportation Plan set the Park District of Ottawa County in motion to develop a land and water trail network for non-motorized modes of transportation that connects the Ottawa County residents and visitors to the county’s cultural and historic landmarks, as well as to the surrounding areas. 

The Park District continues to utilize the Active Transportation Plan as a guide to the development of multi-use trails throughout Ottawa County. The Park District plans to conduct a committee workshop in order revisit the original plan and compile updated information.
